TELUS Geomatics (a division of TELUS Communications Inc.) is a member of the Data and IP Solutions team in the Business Solutions unit.
In 1992, TELUS Corporation began to convert TELUS’ outside plant network facilities from paper maps to an electronic database. When the project ended in 1997, TELUS Geomatics was formed with a mandate to develop a GIS application that met the needs of the rest of the TELUS organization.
Today, TELUS Geomatics provides services to internal TELUS groups and it also sells its products and services to businesses across Canada.
We work with customers to understand their operations’ requirements and then design, develop and deploy cost effective GIS solutions that meet those needs. From our customers’ perspective, our business model speeds up implementation, minimizes expenses and risks, and provides access to highly qualified technical people that they would not otherwise have the opportunity to consult. Our solutions use a web-enabled application called TELUS GeoExplorer® that stores and links layers of data to geography in an innovative way. GeoExplorer is delivered over the Internet on a subscription basis.The objective of TELUS Geomatics is to be the recognized leader as an application service provider of GIS solutions. TELUS Geomatics is a division of TELUS Communications Inc. (TCI) within the TELUS group of companies.
